We are always up to a new project. See what we are working on below!

Resorting Eden Projects
One of the primary goals of Restoring Eden is to enable year-round farming. By utilizing a geothermal greenhouse and a mobile hoophouse, we can grow fresh produce throughout the entire year. This approach not only allows us to sell and donate produce to markets and non-profits year-round, but it also means we can continue farming while school is in session, providing internships and work opportunities for local ministries and students.
The typical growing season in our region lasts from mid-April to mid-October, a six-month period. However, with the hoophouse and greenhouse, we can effectively double our capacity and cultivate crops for 12 months a year, ensuring a consistent supply of fresh, nutrient-dense produce.
Our market garden will consist of three fifty-foot plots. The hoophouse will be mounted on rails, allowing us to move it from plot to plot as the seasons change. This mobility enables us to get a head start on the next growing season by several months. Additionally, relocating the hoophouse helps prevent soil stagnation, as it allows the soil to receive full sunlight, which aids in eliminating pathogens.
On the farm, we will also raise laying hens on pasture. During the winter months, the back quarter of the hoophouse will be retrofitted to house the hens, which will be kept on deep mulch. Over the winter, the manure from the chickens, combined with the constant turning of the soil, will contribute to compost production. Studies have shown that maintaining the correct carbon-to-manure ratio creates a sanitary and healthy environment for the birds. The body heat from the hens, along with the warmth generated from the composting carbon, will help naturally heat the hoophouse and support the growth of vegetables in the remaining three-quarters of the structure.

Community Need Served
-
Access to Fresh Produce: By providing year-round access to nutrient-dense produce, the project helps improve food security and nutrition.
-
Educational Opportunities: There is a growing need for hands-on educational experiences related to agriculture, nutrition, and sustainability. This project offers internships and training for students and local ministries, fostering a deeper understanding of regenerative farming practices.
-
Economic Development: The project supports local economies by creating job opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurship through the sale of produce and related products.
-
Environmental Sustainability: The use of regenerative practices promotes soil health and biodiversity, addressing environmental concerns related to conventional farming methods.

People Who Will Benefit
-
Local Residents: Community members will gain access to fresh produce, improving their dietary options and overall health.
-
Students: Local students will benefit from internships and educational programs, gaining practical skills in agriculture, nutrition, and business.
-
Local Ministries and Non-Profits: These organizations will receive fresh produce for their programs, enhancing their ability to serve the community.
-
Farm Workers: Individuals involved in the farming operations will gain valuable work experience and skills, contributing to their personal and professional development.
-
The Environment: The community as a whole will benefit from improved environmental practices that promote sustainability and resilience.
By addressing these community needs and measuring success through these proposed methods, the project can demonstrate its effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to enhance its impact.
